This code of conduct is obligatory for qualified practitioners of the Electronic Medicine Association (UK), here after referred to as the EMA.

To maintain the highest standards of professional conduct.

bullet

To observe the highest degree of integrity and responsibility in regard to the practice of Electronic Medicine and to recognize that the interests and welfare of the patient are paramount.

To respect totally the confidentiality of the relationship of the practitioner to patient.

bullet

To seek assistance or refer the patient to his/her complementary therapist, i.e. chiropractor/medical practitioner, in any situation where the practitioner may feel that he/she lacks the necessary knowledge or competence to administer treatment.

bullet

To undertake to continue and update his/her knowledge by means of lectures, seminars and suitable reading.

bullet

To refrain from enticing patients from the care of a professional colleague, and to abstain from any action or statement which might bring a professional colleague or organization into disrepute.

bullet

To keep detailed and accurate records of all patient contacts and treatments, as well as business and financial records.

bullet

To refrain from making any statement or claim misrepresenting the therapeutic benefits of his/her treatement.

 

Personal

A practitioner should at all times maintain the modest and correct demeanor expected of the professional person, both in the public and private capacity.

Premises

Treatment rooms must be maintained in a state of clinical cleanliness and the public areas and facilities must comply with current Health and Safety Regulations.

Records

An accurate record of patient details and treatments is required. These confidential records must be kept in a secure place and not accessible to a third party.

 

CONDUCT

An EMA practitioner must not:

Use the title of Doctor unless he/she is a Registered Medical Practitioner, Veterinarian, or unless he/she has a Doctorate from a recognized University in a subject other than medicine or related sciences or has been awarded the title by the Electronic Medicine Association.

Address or refer to an assistant as "nurse" unless the person referred to holds a nursing qualification.

bullet

Carry on any consultation, physical examination or treatment of a child/person under 18 years of age, except in the presence of a parent or guardian or other responsible adult approved by the parent or guardian.
